Who we are

The Ethical Computer Company (TECC) was set up in 1999 as a project of Burslem Ethical Trust (registered charity no. 1082990), a community education and development initiative. TECC is a small community enterprise dedicated to helping people into jobs. The TECC project was begun to enable the reuse of redundant computer equipment in order to provide affordable alternatives for the community, together with support facilities.

We have established retail shops in Burslem and Tunstall to support our service users locally, as well as our shipments further afield. Both centres incorporate computer-use provision where the local community can use the internet, printers, etc. They are both now accredited as “UKonlinecentres”, a government initiative enabling computer-assisted learning in the use of IT and the Internet.

PC Technician training commenced in 2005 to equip Trainees with the CompTIA A+ Certification with hands-on experience in our refurbishing area and a reference to help them move on to employment.

TECC has the central aim of equipping those who need work with knowledge and practical skills in Information Technology (IT), administration and other fields so that they are of immediate use to prospective employers. We operate as a Team. All areas of interest, aptitude and expertise are valued to complement the Team.

We do not have the resources to continuously supervise people so initiative, self-motivation and reliability are essential.
